The Punjab Minister for Religious Affairs and Auqaf, Sahibzada Syed Saeedul Hassan Shah has said that Ulema and Mashaikh are the best community leaders in an Islamic society and they can play pivotal role for creating a society based on the principles of tolerance, religious harmony and enlightenment. Talking to a 15-member delegation of religious scholars and Ulema here on Monday, the minister observed that Ulema and the Mashaikh had pro-actively spread the teachings of Islam in sub-continent. Even now, Ulema and Mashaikh should come forward and sensitise the West about universal teachings of Islam.
"President Musharraf, through his agenda of enlightenment and moderation, realised the West that Islam is a friend of humanity and there is no clash between West and Islamic world.
The enlightened moderation and the scientific approaches can solve the problems of sectarianism and disunity," he added.
